I think it’s time we start addressing some of the crap going on in the world around us. When I heard about Rush Limbaugh and Sandra Fluke, I paused The Daily Show and turned to look at Jason. “Wait. I don’t get it. Did I miss something?” I said in confusion. Jason shook his head, “Nope. That happened.”

“No, really. Did I fall asleep? Is there more to her speech? I thought this was about health coverage. Why’d he call her a slut? And did he just seriously say she should record herself having sex and that we should all get to watch?”

I’ve talked plenty about being a slut in Pop Goes the Slut, and in articles about meaningless sex and sex on the first date. But when this stuff goes national… It’s a whole other ballgame.

This piece is about name calling in general, not about Limbaugh. That said, I’m still going to give my two cents. This whole, “I’m not paying for you to have sex, you dirty slut prostitute” needs to stop. Like Stewart says, WE ALL PAY FOR SHIT WE DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR.  And why haven’t you heard of PCOS or Endometriosis? What’s ridiculous is that it’s not just loons like Limbaugh spreading this moronic stance, it’s women too! How is it okay for Viagra to be covered and not birth control? How is it okay for the people being heard on this topic to be mostly men, and to label the small group of women with a voice, sluts?

And can we quickly talk about how you’re the moral one asking to ‘watch’ but she’s the slut-whore? 

I’m not going to dive into the ignorance. What I will say is this: Your Republican candidates brushed off the insults and name calling commenting on the ‘choice’ of words and brushing off ol Limbaugh’s douche behavior as predictable. Oh Limbaugh, always says the darnest things! Shucks!

…and the one on how being a bully affects you when you’re a chick: You’re a Shitty Girlfriend. Period.

It’s fun to call girls sluts, right? You get to look down from your high horse and judge everyone around you. Damn harlett, couldn’t keep those panties on if  her life depended on it. You get to pat yourself on the back for being able to keep your vagina sealed, and for not having fallen victim to temptation and those dreaded, parasitic hormones. You have morals, you have values. Your reputation is important to you.. Unlike these mischievous whores.

Girl to Girl

I’m totally better than she is. Her vagina must be so loosey-goosey. She’s been with so many men..You’d choose their left overs over this fine piece of rarely touched heaven-like bod?

If you genuinely need to put down other girls to feel better about yourself, you need some major work. Any guy worth being with will call you out on your insecurities and take your insults as a red flag; you’re 2 drunken nights away from slashing his tires and accusing him of partaking in an Asian orgy. Focus on your vagina, let other women live their own lives. Unless you’re scissoring, experimenting, or for whatever reason needing her STD test results, you really need not worry about where he vagina has been.

Guy to Girl

Really? Either you’re not getting in on the goods or you have, and your ego is at stake because your penis wasn’t anything special. Waa. Listening to a guy call a girl a slut is ridiculous and really calls attention to his ego. Guys can hardly be bothered to comment on anything ‘girl’ unless their penis is involved. Think about it.

On a Global Scale

I’m sorry, do you not remember high school? Most of us were bullied at one point or another. Do you have ANY idea what’s going on in schools? Have you decided to ignore these kids committing suicide? Bullying doesn’t just happen to kids because of their assumed sexual orientation. Where the hell do you think they’re learning these things? How can we, as a society, preach about bullying when it’s ALL around us and we’re the guilty parties?

Insulting and bullying is hazardous to your health, and there isn’t a predefined number of sexual encounters needed to earn the title of slut. Mind your own fucking business (on a small scale) and if you’re in the media, know that your ignorance is being broadcasted to the world, and that if you’re going to call women whores you need to be ready to back it up. (Not issue a half assed apology when sponsors pull out of your show).
